About Gadget Explainer

Technology is supposed to make our lives easier, but finding the right gadget can often feel like navigating a minefield of marketing jargon, fake reviews, and confusing specification sheets.

That is why we created Gadget Explainer. We are a team of tech enthusiasts dedicated to buying, testing, and breaking down everyday consumer electronics so you don’t have to.

Meet Michael Carter, Senior Editor

Technology is supposed to make our lives easier, but finding the right gadget can often feel like navigating a minefield of marketing jargon, fake reviews, and confusing specification sheets.

Before founding Gadget Explainer, Michael spent years working in IT infrastructure and consumer tech consulting. He realized early on that the average buyer doesn’t care about teraflops or obscure benchmark scores—they want to know if a laptop keyboard feels cheap, if a smart security camera connects to Wi-Fi reliably, and if a vacuum battery will actually last long enough to clean the whole house.

Today, Michael ensures that every review published on this site adheres to strict, real-world testing standards.

Sarah Lin

Health & Fitness Tech Editor

Sarah brings a critical eye to the booming world of wellness gadgets. With a background in kinesiology and personal training, she knows that a fitness tracker is only as good as the accuracy of its sensors. Sarah leads our testing for smartwatches, sleep rings, and recovery tools. She is ruthless when it comes to calling out apps that hide your own health data behind expensive monthly subscriptions, ensuring you only buy devices that actually support your well-being.

Marcus Vance

Smart Home Specialist

Marcus is our resident tinkerer and IoT (Internet of Things) expert. Before joining Gadget Explainer, he worked as a residential AV and network installer. Marcus handles our reviews for security cameras, robot vacuums, and smart lighting. He knows that a smart home should run quietly in the background, not demand constant troubleshooting. If a security camera drops its Wi-Fi signal or a smart lock is easily bypassed, Marcus will find out and let you know.

Chloe Bennett

Travel & Mobile Gear Editor

Chloe is a former digital nomad who has worked from coffee shops and airport lounges across the globe. She heads up our coverage of daily-carry electronics, travel adapters, portable power banks, and noise-canceling headphones. Chloe tests gear exactly how it will be used: tossed into backpacks, subjected to long flights, and pushed to the limits of its battery life. If a gadget can’t survive her travel tests, it doesn’t get a recommendation.

Our Mission

Our goal is simple: To help you spend your money wisely.

We accomplish this by:

Testing in the Real World: We don’t test in sterile, temperature-controlled labs. We use these gadgets in our own homes, cars, and backpacks.
Ignoring the Hype: We don’t care what the manufacturer’s press release says. If a heavily marketed feature doesn’t work in everyday life, we will call it out.
Speaking Your Language: We translate complicated tech jargon into straightforward, practical advice.

Editorial Independence

Trust is our most valuable asset. While Gadget Explainer is reader-supported through affiliate links, our editorial team operates completely independently. Manufacturers cannot pay for favorable reviews, and we routinely purchase our own review units to ensure we are getting the exact same experience as our readers.
